✅ What is VVGF?
A fully funded 10-month fellowship for women leaders from around the world who are:
- Driving social impact
- Focused on public leadership or social entrepreneurship
- Committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
📌 Main Fellowship Tracks
- VV Venture – For social entrepreneurs (starting/running businesses that solve social problems)
- VV Engage – For public leaders (working in government, activism, or policy)
💡 KEY REQUIREMENTS (and how to meet them!)
1. Be a Woman (18+) Leading a Project
Action Tip:
If you’re already managing or leading a business, community project, advocacy group, or public campaign—highlight your leadership role.
2. Strong English Skills
Action Tip:
You must speak, read, and write English fluently. If you’re not confident, start practicing now. Consider free platforms like:
- Duolingo
- YouTube channels for public speaking
- TED Talks for presentation inspiration
3. Live in a Country Where UNICEF Operates
Action Tip:
Check if your country is one of the UNICEF programme countries [see full list on UNICEF’s website]. Most countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America qualify.
4. Work Must Be Aligned With the SDGs
Action Tip:
Make sure your project addresses one or more SDGs like:
- Gender Equality
- Quality Education
- Climate Action
- Good Health and Well-being
Then explain how your work creates measurable impact.
5. Willing to Commit to the Full 10-Month Program
Action Tip:
You’ll need to show you’re committed and available. Plan ahead—block off time and mention how you’ll manage the workload in your application.
6. Required Documents
Here’s how to prepare:
- Valid Passport: Apply for one now if you don’t have it.
- 3-Minute Video: This is a personal pitch! Include:
- Who you are
- What your project is
- The impact it makes
- Why you want to join VVGF
- Business/Project Documents: Create a 1-page overview, and if you have:
- Registration certificates
- Pitch decks
- Social media accounts or website—share them!
🎯 STRATEGIC TIPS TO ALIGN YOURSELF
- Tell Your Story Authentically:
They’re looking for women who are truly passionate about change, not just polished resumes. Be real. - Show Collaboration:
Mention how you’ve worked with others—teams, communities, or stakeholders. - Demonstrate Leadership & Vision:
Talk about how you identified a problem and took initiative. Show you’re not just participating—you’re leading. - Use Numbers Where Possible:
E.g., “Trained 100+ girls in digital skills”, “Reached 5 rural communities” - Stay Connected to Their Mission:
Follow Vital Voices on social media, read their stories, and see the kind of women they’ve supported before.
