The UNDP Washington Internship 2025 offers an exciting paid opportunity with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at its Washington Representation Office (WRO) in Washington, D.C., from September to December 2025.

About the Internship

The UNDP is recruiting two types of interns for Fall 2025:

  • General Intern
  • Communications & Outreach Intern

Both internships come with a monthly stipend to support your living expenses while you build valuable skills in one of the world’s most dynamic cities.

Roles and Responsibilities

General Intern

  • Attend high-profile policy events and brief UNDP staff.
  • Assist in planning and executing UNDP events.
  • Update and manage contact databases (media, think tanks, government).
  • Support daily operations and handle assistance requests.

Communications & Outreach Intern

  • Update the UNDP Washington website.
  • Assist in developing communication strategies (audio/video skills are a plus!).
  • Research materials for publication.
  • Monitor media and social platforms, and share daily updates.
  • Support various outreach activities.

Both roles offer exposure to international development work, valuable networking opportunities, and the chance to contribute to impactful global initiatives.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to all nationalities.
  • Enrolled in a graduate program (e.g., communications, development, economics) or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Available for at least three consecutive months (September–December 2025).
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Respect for the values and principles of the UN/UNDP.
  • Willingness to return to studies after the internship.
